Once the harvesting is completed, the turmeric is processed. The processing process only starts after 2 to 3 days.

Curing

The process involves softening of the rhizomes from fresh ones to get a uniform color. Remove the dust and plunge the roots into boiling water. It takes about 45 – 60 minutes until it becomes soft. At this stage, both aroma and color are suitable for drying.

Drying

The drying process can be performed on 5 to 7 cm thick bamboo mat or floor. Cross-flow hot air dry sliced turmeric at 60 degrees. It takes 10 to 15 days to dry up completely. The sliced turmeric undergoes surface bleaching, which gives a brighter tone.

Polishing

The surface is manually or mechanically polished by rubbing over a hard surface (manually) or by hand-operated barrel or drum on the metal mesh. When the drum is rotated with turmeric filling, polishing takes place through the abrasion process.
